5 out of 5 stars Intellinet USB 300N Wireless Adapter   July 24, 2010

The Intellinet USB 300N Wireless Adapter is a perfect USB Wireless Adapter for Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux 10.04. It uses the RT2870 / RT 2870 chipset. Where I usually work, I would say I am 40-50 feet from the WAP, with signal going through the floor and two walls. I get very good thruput and no dropped connections in Wireless G Mode, which is the only mode I use at present (July 2010).

For Windows XP:

(1) Download latest driver from the Intellinet website (you won't need the installation CD**, included).
(2) Boot Windows.
(3) Plug in the Intellinet stick.
(4) CANCEL the automatic installation prompt that pops up.
(5) Execute the Intellinet driver you downloaded and follow instructions.
**If you do or did load the CD driver first, then later decide to update the driver, select uninstall when you execute the updated driver file. After that reinstall cleanly from the updated driver file. Don't ask me how I know this . . . .

For Ubuntu Linux 10.04:

Open your command prompt and do T-H-I-S (Don't hunt all over the internet. Just do it!):

# sudo rmmod rt2800usb

To make this change permanent:
# sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

Add the following entry to bottom:

# Prevent rt2800usb from breaking rt2870 (Ubuntu bug)
blacklist rt2800usb

5 out of 5 stars Alternative to Samsung   July 14, 2010

I bought this Intellinet Wireless-N USB Adapter - 523974 from CablesOnline. Got it before my TV arrived. I purchased it for my Samsung LN46C750 and read the other reviews that said it worked. And let me tell you it did work with absolutely no issues. Plugged it into the TV and it asked me to connect to my wireless network. In a matter of minutes, I was on the internet. As far as I can tell, I have all the apps like Netflix, Pandora, Facebook, etc. Saved about $25 - $30 over the Samsung adapter. I did notice that my download speed was quicker when I used the included USB extension cord.

5 out of 5 stars Great Alternative To Samsung's WIS09ABGN LinkStick Wireless LAN Adapter   June 26, 2010

I recently bought a Samsung BDC5500 Blu-ray Disc Player. It required a wireless NIC to connect to the internet. I read another buyer's review on this product and decided to try it. It's a lot cheaper that Samsung's WIS09ABGN LinkStick Wireless LAN Adapter. This product works perfectly. It installed in seconds.

This is one of the easiest setup i have ever done. I have just connected it to usb port of my samsung LN46C650L tv then went through menu for setting up internet, entered wireless password.after connection is verified, it downloaded 19 services in 10 minutes. we were able to view youtube videos very easily.I have a 802.11.b router but still worked fine. This is atleast 20 dollars savings compared samsung brand wireless stick.

I recently bought a Samsung BD-P1590 Blu Ray player to be able to stream Netflix. Only after it arrived did I learn that you have to use the Samsung wireless adapter, not just any wireless. After some online research I found out that this adapter was being used in place of the Samsung adapter. I bought one and sure enough, as soon as I plugged it in the player detected it. I had the connection set up in a manner of seconds and it's working perfectly. It's a cheaper alternative than the Samsung adapter that is $50+. I even had some problems getting everything set right with a wired connection, but the wireless has been flawless.

CablesOnline is a fantastic seller too, I had the adapter well ahead of the estimated delivery date. If you have a Samsung player, get this adapter.
