1 out of 5 stars ASUS Customer Service is HORRIBLE   September 7, 2010
Keys
I purchased the WL-330gE to hookup my Sony Blu-Ray, Xbox 360, or my Popcorn Hour to our network in the house. This device states you can use it as a wireless adapter, repeater (to extend your wireless's signal network), Access Point (a point for other devices to connect to your network), or a gateway. I was attempting to set it up as an adapter so I can plug it into the appropriate device when it was needed. The device would not connect to our home network via our Dlink DIR-825 N,G,& A Wireless Router. The directions included were extremely vague. The online website was equally as unhelpful. Per some suggestions that I should find in their forum, I upgraded and down graded firmware with no success. I even reconfigured our network thinking it might be something on that end. Within seconds all our existing devices were able to connect to the Dlink (Iphone, Ipad, MacBook, Dell Laptop, Sony Laptop, Desktop, and Popcorn Hour via Wireless Card), EXCEPT the WL-330gE. At this point I was defeated. I had never had a device not work like this. The web interface made it look easy, but it just wouldn't work.

I called up ASUS Tech Support. First, I used the number on their website, and was routed to a tech. The individual sounded like he wasn't paying attention. I explained which product I had and what I was trying to accomplish 4 times. He just stated 'uh-huh'. I asked him if he understood what I was trying to do and if their device supported that. *long pause* 'uh-huh'. I asked if he could assist me in getting this correctly configured. He then asked for which model ASUS laptop I am trying to connect to the internet. I explained that I didn't have an ASUS laptop. (I mentioned the product by name no less than 4 times before) So I again repeated what I was trying to do. He told me I had the wrong department and gave me a number to call instead. Before I could confirm the phone number he hung up.

This time I tried the number that the tech gave me. Glad it was right, I had a sickening feeling it was going to be wrong. The tech who answered the phone knew which device I was using. (YAY!) I explained to him what I was trying to do and he said it should work. He asked if I reset the device, I did. He wanted me to upgrade the firmware, I did. (Gave him the version numbers I tried). He seemed annoyed at this point. It felt very much like it was the "Reboot and call me back trick" He said he would have to send me to someone in network support. I thought I was speaking to that department. Without giving me as much as a chance to say another word, I was transferred to extension with a full mailbox which disconnected me.

I called back but this time I was connected to an extremely gruff individual who opened with "ALL TECH SUPPORT INDIVIDUALS ARE BUSY WITH OTHER PEOPLE! GIVE ME YOUR NAME AND NUMBER AND SOMEONE WILL CALL YOU BACK!" I stated I was just disconnected in error he repeated his line "ALL TECH SUPPORT INDIVIDUALS ARE BUSY WITH OTHER PEOPLE! GIVE ME YOUR NAME AND NUMBER AND SOMEONE WILL CALL YOU BACK!". I gave him my name and number *CLICK* He hung up on me! I called back again to ask for an ETA, which I was connected to the same person, again he opened with his phrase. "ALL TECH SUPPORT INDIVIDUALS ARE BUSY WITH OTHER PEOPLE! GIVE ME YOUR NAME AND NUMBER AND SOMEONE WILL CALL YOU BACK!" I explain we had just spoke but he hung up before I could ask for an ETA. I didn't want to sit by my computer for hours thinking it could be minutes. He stated it would be an hour or two. *CLICK*

As of today, 4 days have passes without a return phone call. I highly doubt they are going to suddenly call me back. In my 20 years of working with computers, days of time spent on the phone with customer support with various companies and different items, THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED. I can maybe forgive one individual and a bad day, but every person I have spoken to was extremely rude.

I will be returning this product today and will not purchase any ASUS products in the future. I will also inform anyone I know to not give a ASUS their money. Today, I will be purchasing Sony UWA-BR100 - Network adapter It's $30 more in price and will ONLY work with our Blu-ray, but at this point it's the satisfaction of not give a horribly ran company a single dime which would indirectly pay these poorly capable people's salary.

It disappoints me to write this because I had high hopes for this product based on other people's comments.

1 out of 5 stars Disappointed   September 6, 2010
Dis-satisfied
After an hour the ASUS repeater disconnects my internet. I have tired numerous things and cannot get this repeater to increase my signal or work for more than an hour. I have to unplug and plug it back in to get the internet back. I have now unplugged it and and using it.

5 out of 5 stars Great Access Point for Ipad   September 5, 2010

This is a great access point for making the connection between your Iphone or Ipad to a wired internet connection. I carry one with me on all my travels and use it in Hotels that only have a wired connection for the internet. It is small and easy to carry and has excellent range for such a small unit. It was easy to set up and has been very stable over the last eight months I have used it. Highly recomended if you travel with an Ipad and never have to worry about not being able to connect in situations where you only have a wired connection. Also nice that it allows multiple devices to connect at once so you can be updating or Skyping on the Iphone and using your Ipad at the same time.Apple iPad MB292LL/A Tablet (16GB, Wifi)Apple iPad Tablet (64GB, Wifi)Apple iPad Tablet (32GB, Wi-Fi)Apple iPad MB292LL/A Tablet (16GB, Wifi)Apple iPad MB292LL/A Tablet (16GB, Wifi)Apple iPad Tablet (64GB, Wifi)

5 out of 5 stars Using as a repeater   August 31, 2010
Josh Konigsberg (Washington,, DC USA)
Unlike some of the prior reviews, I found the instructions easy to follow and had this device set up as a router in a few minutes. Device seems to work well, although it does seem to be re-booted (power cycled) every couple weeks. Happy with the purchase

5 out of 5 stars Saved time and money!   August 13, 2010
Jesse C. Slicer (Olathe, KS USA)
After owning a rather poor product in the same category that I was trying to connect my ReplayTV (wired Ethernet only) to my wireless network with, the WL-330gE came along and worked perfectly within five minutes of setting it up. Because of how well it worked, I got a second one and hooked them both up to a couple of wired routers (one in my bedroom and the other in my living room) which each have three devices happily on the home wireless network. The only downside is that it follows the trend of most modern electronics and have a REALLY BRIGHT BLUE LIGHT on it that must be on all the time. Electrical tape works wonders on these.
