5 out of 5 stars Now at 270Mbps after a firmware upgrade...   August 26, 2010
jademan (Irvine, CA USA)
I see a lot of people with setup problems... and claims of it not working with Win7... so I just had to post that I am running on Win7 Home Premium connecting to a D-Link DIR-825 and it works beautifully (Athlon PhenomIIx6 desktop). I do use the little extension USB base that comes with it - not just direct to pc. The setup screens are pretty cool and friendly if you have some experience... it has a wizard to help as well. Before upgrading the router's firmware from 1.00 to 1.13NA, I was only getting 120Mbps over wireless, but immediately after the painless firmware upgrade from a hard-wired pc, the wireless pc shot to 270Mbps without even so much as a reboot or repair. I regularly speedtest(.net) on wireless for > 16Mbps down now (my connect is rated 20-25Mbps). OOOooooo! I just ran another speedtest after reboot of router for kicks and got > 20Mbps down - a new record for this pc! ([...])

It has dropped & reconnected at times, but not frequently as described by others, and I can usually find some interference source/other problem to blame... Nothing abnormal imho. It works great for me.

4 out of 5 stars D-Link USB Adapter   August 24, 2010

Good product. Does what it needs to do for my son's laptop. Has great wireless range for a USB adapter. Two CONs are that its a little bulky and the amber flashing blinking connection light is a bit much after awhile. Overall very good product though.

3 out of 5 stars Be careful of old versions   August 10, 2010
Colin B. Verrilli (Apex, NC)
Just a warning to be careful of old versions of this adapter. I received a version A2 which did not work with my DIR-655 router. I returned it and could not get Amazon to ship me a version B1 which I knew was compatible. I went to Home Depot and got a version B1 and it worked fine.

If I could sell everything I have from Dlink back i would. I used to go with all Linksys products but I have had all dlink for the past 2 years because they had cool looking routers that looked pretty powerful and stable (Dlink extreme N gaming router). Dlink has shown me some power, but stability has been the main concern with their products. Honestly if i could sell all my dlink equipment for a good price, i would. I would than invest in Linksys cause they seem to be the top dog in my book when it comes to wireless networking. I gave it 4 stars because i think its a good adapter, just stay away from dlink routers.

5 out of 5 stars D-Link DWA-160 Solved my Problem   July 10, 2010

My computer was crashing because of an obsolete driver for my old D-Link Wireless Adapter. The D-Link DWA-160 wireless adapter works very well and my system is stable again. Problem solved.
