Internet Speed Much Improved - Easy Installation and Setup April 26, 2010 John T. Schneider (Indiana, USA) The installation was fast and easy. The card greatly improved my internet speed and has much better range. I would recommend to all.
Works great April 15, 2010 Crazy Jim (usa) Working with windows 7. No drivers, connects N speeds to my router. Never dropped a connection as far as I can tell and have had it for quite some time.
Great card March 24, 2010 tmag454 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have this paired with Trendnet's wireless-N access point and their wireless-N gaming adapter. I had a little trouble getting the access point set up, but the TEW-623PI PCI card went right in and has been working perfectly ever since. I use it to stream HD media to my XBox and have seen a great improvement over my previous wireless-G reception and bandwidth.
Good connection with easy installation March 11, 2010 nycphilorican (Brooklyn, NY) The card is easy to install and it was instantly recognized by Windows 7 which downloaded the drivers for the item. I did not even have to use the installation disk.
I take the claimed wireless speeds with a grain of salt because there are so many factors that will effect the speeds of uploads and downloads. I get a strong signal in the room next to the router with the card and have not had a dropped signal. I can surf the web and download files fairly quickly so I am happy which is what most people do with their PC anyway.
If you need to connect your PC wirelessly, I definitely would recommend it, especially if you have Windows 7 since it worked right out of the box for me.
not any faster than wireless-G January 7, 2010 D. Chan (San Jose, CA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this because I wanted a cheap wireless-N adapter to take advantage of my dual-band Linksys WRT400N router. Installation was a breeze, once plugged in Windows 7 recognized it right away and automatically installed the appropriate drivers. There is no need to install the TrendNET provided software.
However to my disappointment this adapter is no faster than the wireless-G on my laptop and is much less stable as well. I experienced periodic drops in my connection which is bearable most of the time, but becomes more annoying during video streaming and online gaming. Like other reviewers, I can only get a maximum of 130 out of the advertised 300 Mbps, and often times the number dips even lower. I am only two rooms away from the router and my laptop in the same room gets perfect reception.
EDIT: I've figured out that you have to configure your channel width to 40 MHz to connect at 300 mbps. However, the connection is extremely unstable at that point it becomes completely useless.
Overall, this product meets my needs for now, but I will probably upgrade to a better adapter in a few months.
By the way, the shape of the card is rectangular, not triangular as the picture suggests.
PROS:
Low price ($20 when I bought it)
Easy install, Windows 7 recognized it right away, no need to install provided drivers.
A decent solution for internet use and some downloading
CONS:
Costs $50 at the time of review
Periodic drops in connection; very annoying when trying to watch streaming video or play games online.
does not connect to 5 ghz networks
gets nowhere near the advertised 300 mbps
