I have been looking for an inexpensive wireless USB adapter that won't bend from being moved by kids and this is perfect!! The stick ones get bent after a while. And the kids computer has Ubuntu on it, which is a Linux browser. I plugged this one in, the CD first of course, and it worked great. And I love the holder!!! PERFECT!!

When I received the item it looked brand new so I figured that it must work. However, after installing the software and trying to use it, I could not get wireless on my laptop no matter what I did. When I buy a product, the product itself is just as important as the customer service and the company I buy it from. This company asked me to return the item with a tracking number. I paid to reship it to them when they were the ones who sent me a faulty product and I still have not heard from them nor gotten a refund! Furthermore, I am disappointed in Amazon because I have contacted them to resolve this matter and they have also ignored my request for help. This whole endeavor was a disappointment and I still do not have wireless on my laptop and now I have wasted money on shipping the product to me, shipping it back to them, and I have no product but I paid the company. How ridiculous!

I bought this as a cheaper alternative to replacing my internal Wi-Fi card on my laptop after it crapped out.
As a whole it pretty much does what it says except after about 100 feet the signal is about half as strong as fifty feet and so on and not the 1000 ft it advertised. For the best reception I need to make sure it faces the general direction of my router.
I also picked this one because of its wired extension to keep the actual unit from sticking out of the side of the laptop and risk snapping it as the USB design and placement on my laptop doesn't seem well thought out, but what I didn't think about is when I move the laptop it was just another wire to tangle (solved that with some Velcro and a rubber band).
Overall I wouldn't suggest this one for traveling laptops but I would recommend it for systems that always sit in the same spot.

I got this to give an old (2002) G4 iMac wireless capabilities, and getting it set up wasn't too difficult. The problem is that it doesn't stay connected consistently. Anytime the computer is shut down or anything, we've had to go through the entire set-up process again, and it often requires many attempts to finally connect. Once it's connected, it works well and offers pretty good speed.
