Absolutely Horrendous June 27, 2010 ASilva437 I bought this USB adapter because my old internal wifi card stopped working on my laptop...BIG MISTAKE. The internal wifi card was more reliable than this piece of crap ever was. The damn adapter dropped its connection every 5 minutes and I had to unplug it and replug it to regain a connection. Even then, sometimes it wouldn't even detect any wireless networks.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS THING.
Poor reception June 16, 2010 DAL Comment (Abington, PA USA) This adapter can't seem to give the same data rate as my laptop when they are side by side. It slows to a crawl at times (5mbps) when the laptop is connecting at 54mbps. Sometimes it connects okay, but it's poor frequently enough that I regret the purchase. I would recommend you look to another product to meet your wireless needs.
Also, I had to set it up to use the windows wireless management so it would be recognized any time I reboot. The Belkin tool wasn't letting it connect automatically and I had to reenter the WEP key each time.
A lifesaver, I love this April 21, 2010 Mr. Mark (Boston) I have a guest in my home for 2 months and he wanted to use his own computer. So we went to the store and got this and it works wonderfully. His computer is about 25 feet away from the router and 3 walls separate it, and the connection is fast.
Its such a relief that he can use his own computer now and we dont have to share one.
When the salesman said this was the entry level unit I thought it would be slow but its fine and the pages load up quickly. I paid about $15 more at the store for it than what I see it advertised here.
Highly recommended!
Surprisingly Good! March 11, 2010 R. McNair This was my 3rd Wireless Adapter and why I keep getting them I don't know but out of them all I would say this one was the best! It worked right along with my router and my network as well as my school's network. To me the software was kinda useless that why I always used windows instead but it didn't hurt it at all. However, you do have to keep in mind that is a external network adapter made out of plastic so I had to be careful how I handled it. That would be my only complaint but nevertheless it still worked fine.
Got Lucky I Guess February 9, 2010 Malachi Constant (Orange County, CA) I bought this wireless adapter very cheaply back when I was in college, at least 6 or 7 years ago and it still works fine. Granted I've always been in relative proximity to my wireless access points. When I originally used it under XP I wasn't too happy with the belkin software that came with it at times, but once I got it connected it was stable and prety quick. When I upgraded to a new computer with Vista Home Premium I found the experience even better since the adapater had become plug and play and I no longer needed to bother with the tedious belkin software. Finally after all these years I am starting to have range issues and I'm wondering if maybe it is because of this adapter and not my router after all. So minus 1 star for that but otherwise you can't beat almost a decade of unfailing service for less than $50.
