    4 out of 5 stars router   May 2, 2010
    Gary R. Salisbury
I have used this Netgear WGT624NA router for several years without incident. Only recently has the device required occasionally cold rebooting due to non-responsiveness, otherwise it has worked well, is easily setup and managed.

    1 out of 5 stars horrible   April 16, 2010
    BigBoy (LC, CA USA)
this has turned me away from netgear forever. It started working ok then every few days something would go wrong. I think it stop connecting to the modem and I had to go in to the router and press save every single time, including when you turn off the model or the router you need to go log into the router and press save to reset the system.

    DO NOT BUY

5 out of 5 stars Works just as it should, most of the time.   October 25, 2009
    Jeffrey A. Young
The router I received works great, however there is a problem that I am not sure is related to the router itself. Although rare, I sometimes find myself disconnected from the internet. I do not think it is the router's fault for my parents have the exact same one and it works fine. I think it is do to my campus internet interacting with it. Beyond all of that, the products works great and is exactly how you described it.

2 out of 5 stars Unreliable wireless, requires reboots   September 18, 2009
    Ethan Tira-Thompson (Pittsburgh, PA)
I had to reboot this several times a week -- if I hit a site with good bandwidth that could saturate my downlink, it would 'permanently' disable the wireless portion so none of my laptops (apple mac, hp windows, asus linux) could communicate until I walked over to the router and power cycled it by pulling out the plug. I believe certain bit patterns could also cause the problem, as in some cases it would repeatably die in the same place during a transfer. Quite a nuisance, my wife and I were constantly accusing each other of "killing the wireless".

FWIW the wired ports seem unaffected, so when doing a high speed operation (e.g. downloading files from my lab machine at the nearby university) I would often have to switch to a wired connection in order to ensure it would complete successfully. Not something I should have to worry about.

Do yourself a favor and get a Linksys WRT54GL instead, from further experience they are rock solid and slightly cheaper to boot. (do not get the non-"L" version, lower spec'd hardware and a completely different OS, would have the same stability problems as here)

1 out of 5 stars Awful Product   July 31, 2009
    JSC (NY)
Had this router for about 8 months. After the 4th month it started to drop both PC and Laptop from internet connection. On average it had to be rebooted once / twice a week. I could not understand costumer service department because they barely speak English. Finally just threw it away to get rid of all the time and problems it caused. I would not suggest this product to anyone......
